Holidailies: Final Musings : Even though I "solemnly vowed" to update this blog regularly during the holiday season, I've really struggled just to get in twenty posts during the entire month. Well, there's regularly, and then there's regularly. You know? (posted Jan 6, 8:45am)

New Stars : Handmade holidays are the best! (posted Jan 4, 4:49pm)

Random Christmas Musings, Part Two : I typically get rather melancholy during the holidays, but this year I really didn't have time for that. For some reason, this Christmas season seemed more than usually frenzied; and it also felt as though it ended almost as soon as it began. (posted Jan 4, 8:20am)

Shopping Blues : We've had a few very nice, sunny days. Still much too cold for my taste, but at least we've been able to get out and about, and the snow is mostly gone. Except for those huge sooty piles of icy mess here and there. I'm trying to ignore them, but when we're out shopping that gets a little difficult. (posted Jan 3, 11:29am)

A Little Ramble on New Year's Eve : The hubby and I have been having a running argument about whether or not this is the last day of the decade. This is just a continuation of the argument we had all during 1999, about the beginning of the 21st Century. Well, however you slice it up, this century is moving along at an amazing clip, isn't it? Random Christmas Musings : Some nearly final thoughts on the holiday season. (posted Dec 30, 6:31pm)

Musing on the Twelve Days : A partridge in a pear tree, one hen, two ducks, and a suitcase for packing everything up in. (posted Dec 29, 9:16am)

Winter Blues (and Pinks) : After the snow storm a couple of weeks ago, we had some really beautiful skies - not the clear blue I love, but still interesting in short doses. (posted Dec 28, 9:33pm)

Cold, Cold Shadows : The big snow storm that hit the eastern US last week has left us with some winter landscapes that can be appreciated even by those of us who aren't big fans of snow. (posted Dec 27, 8:25pm)

DC Decorates : We were out and about in our nation's capital just the other day, looking at the Christmas decorations; and they weren't all that easy to find. I guess the recession really has curbed the decorating urge this Christmas. (posted Dec 25, 9:45pm)

A Doll for Christmas : Best of Holidailies Some little girls are doll lovers and some aren't. I was definitely one. Still am, although now I'm a much older girl. And this year I'm enjoying a Christmas gift from long ago, who's back to help celebrate another Christmas Eve. (posted Dec 24, 9:31am)

Vintage Greetings Continued : In these vintage Santa and angel Christmas cards, cuteness was definitely a factor. (posted Dec 21, 3:55pm)

Storm of the Century, Day 1 : I know a lot of people really enjoy a good snow storm, but in all the years I've lived up here in the frozen north, I've never learned to love the white stuff. And today it's snowing. And snowing. And snowing. It's lovely to look at, but scary and depressing, too. (posted Dec 19, 2:27pm)

Vintage Greetings : I've always collected greeting cards. I've even got the cards and gift enclosures that were sent to my mother when I was born! But for today's post, I'm showing off some of the Scottie cards in my collection. Merry Christmas and arf-arf! (posted Dec 17, 6:21pm)

Lighting Up : I'm not sure if it's the recession or what, but the Christmas decorations around our neighborhood seem a little sparse this year. A depressing sort of Grinchy-ness has set in. But a single holiday lighting tradition is being upheld, as it has for the past twenty years or more. (posted Dec 16, 6:55am)

Grasshopper Shadows : My first Shadow Shot Sunday offering. This grasshopper brought his shadow along on a recent visit. (posted Dec 13, 4:17pm)

Some Late Grooviness : A groovy little holiday greeting. (posted Dec 12, 11:35pm)

Touring the White House (Not) : When my husband went to work for the federal government years ago, I somehow imagined that the move to Washington would mean a constant round of official gatherings, embassy parties, and Kennedy Center openings. Alas, that was not to be! (posted Dec 10, 2:55pm)

Winter Rainbow : One of the nice things about living in a high-rise is the great view we get of the sky - especially in winter. Our balcony faces almost due east, so that means the end of this rainbow probably lies somewhere in the Potomac - George Washington would be pleased. (posted Dec 9, 6:51am)

Christmas Makes Me Crazy : Well, maybe I should say it makes me crazier than usual. To wit: I've just done a really stupid thing - I've signed up with Holidailies. Looney? Wacko? Absolutely nutcase-level demented? Yes, I'm all those things and more, folks! (posted Dec 8, 4:40pm)
